Storybook Sculpture Project

The Storybook Sculpture Project, located in the heart of Abilene’s revitalized downtown, is currently home to 25 statues created in conjunction with the Children’s Art & Literacy Festival. Of special interest are six bronze Dr. Seuss statues in Everman Park. Abilene is the only city in the United States to permanently exhibit all six loveable and iconic Dr. Seuss sculptures.

Also in the park is a statue of Childhood’s Great Adventure and the Man in the Moon based on books written by William Joyce. Besides the Man in the Moon there are five other sculptures in downtown based on Joyce’s guardians of childhood books. These characters were portrayed in the animated movie “Rise of the Guardians.
